Bathtub Trail

(6.0 km)

The Bathtub Trail is a walk along the grassy dyke of the reclaimed Noordmeer, a deep-lying polder that is strongly reminiscent of an empty bathtub.

The old land on the other side of the ring dike is an open peat meadow area, bordered by reeds. Part farmland, part nature reserve. From the ring dyke you have a beautiful view of this nature reserve: Het Varkensland. The reserve is an Eldorado for meadow birds.

You start the walk in the backyard of Amsterdam in the idyllic village of Broek in Waterland. You can immediately recognize this village by the pastel colored monumental buildings. This oasis of tranquility, just a stone's throw from the busy city of Amsterdam is a great location to stretch your legs. Go out and discover this beautiful area for yourself!

Important information:

  • Dogs are not allowed on this trail.
  • The trail is not accessible during the bird breeding season from March 15 to June 15.
