Recreation area Het Twiske, located in Laag Holland north of Amsterdam, is a versatile nature area with plenty of opportunities for relaxation and sports. One third of this recreation area consists of water and offers plenty of opportunities for swimming, diving, surfing and sailing.For children, recreation area Het Twiske is a paradise with playful water activities, such as a play ditch, splash pond and an adventure playground with tube fort, cableway, pirate ship, castle and ferries. There are also no fewer than seven beaches and a harbour. For nature lovers, it is a haven where they can go cycling, hiking, boating, horse riding and rollerblading undisturbed in a varied landscape.

Are you a real adventurer? Then visit the adventure playground! Operate the ferry yourself, explore the rope and raft bridges or clamber up the climbing tower. Explore the tube fort, go on the cable car or discover the pirate ship. Besides the playground, there are green meadows with picnic tables for your own snacks, but of course you can also get something tasty at the kiosk!

De Speelsloot
De Speelsloot is one of the seven beautiful and cosy beaches in Het Twiske. You can have fun on the climbing tower, take the ferry across the water or try to get across dry on the challenging obstacle course in the water. After all that romping and playing, it's time for a nice picnic.

Twiske climbing park
Hidden among the trees at Klimpark Twiske are several climbing and running routes with as many as 70 obstacles. There are three starting points at different heights, and from the 12.5-metre-high starting tower you can enjoy a magnificent view of Het Twiske. Finished climbing between the treetops? Then you can leave the climbing park via a 125-metre-long zip line.

1. How do I get to Het Twiske recreation area?
Het Twiske can be reached by car via Oostzaan and Den Ilp and is clearly indicated on ANWB signs. The main entrance is in Oostzaan, reached by taking the Oostzaan/HetHet Twiske exit from the A8 (Amsterdam - Zaanstad). There are several entrances to Het Twiske: Zuiderlaaik, Twiskeweg, Etensroer, Luyendijkje Zuid, Luyendijkje Noord, De Lange Jap, Polderweg and Marsenweg.
From Amsterdam CS and Zaandam CS you can take bus 392 (Connexxion). Get off at stop Kolksloot in front of the main entrance or at stop De Kunstgreep in front of the management office and the harbour. Bus 125 (EBS) runs from Buikslotermeerplein in Amsterdam to the bus station in Purmerend and vice versa. This bus passes by the east side of Het Twiske. 2. Where can I park in recreation area Het Twiske?
You pay a fee to park your car in Het Twiske recreation area. Parking for the first three hours costs €3.50 and for stays of more than three hours a daily rate of €6 is charged. The income from parking is used for the maintenance of the recreation area. There are various parking spaces where you can park your car.
3. Are dogs allowed in recreational area Het Twiske?
In Het Twiske recreation area, dogs must be leashed everywhere except at the dog walking areas. These places are on the edge of the area. All off-leash areas and possibilities can be found in the dog policy.
