Recreation area Het Twiske, located in Laag Holland north of Amsterdam, is a versatile nature area with plenty of opportunities for relaxation and sports. 1. How do I get to Het Twiske recreation area?
Het Twiske can be reached by car via Oostzaan and Den Ilp and is clearly indicated on ANWB signs. The main entrance is in Oostzaan, reached by taking the Oostzaan/HetHet Twiske exit from the A8 (Amsterdam - Zaanstad). There are several entrances to Het Twiske: Zuiderlaaik, Twiskeweg, Etensroer, Luyendijkje Zuid, Luyendijkje Noord, De Lange Jap, Polderweg and Marsenweg.
From Amsterdam CS and Zaandam CS you can take bus 392 (Connexxion). Get off at stop Kolksloot in front of the main entrance or at stop De Kunstgreep in front of the management office and the harbour. Bus 125 (EBS) runs from Buikslotermeerplein in Amsterdam to the bus station in Purmerend and vice versa. This bus passes by the east side of Het Twiske. 2. Where can I park in recreation area Het Twiske?
You pay a fee to park your car in Het Twiske recreation area. Parking for the first three hours costs €3.50 and for stays of more than three hours a daily rate of €6 is charged. The income from parking is used for the maintenance of the recreation area. There are various parking spaces where you can park your car.
3. Are dogs allowed in recreational area Het Twiske?
In Het Twiske recreation area, dogs must be leashed everywhere except at the dog walking areas. These places are on the edge of the area. All off-leash areas and possibilities can be found in the dog policy.
