Autumn enjoyment - in Het Twiske
Autumn is a wonderful season to explore nature and in Het Twiske there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy outdoor activities. From spotting colourful mushrooms to searching for hidden treasures and endless walks through the beautiful landscape, this recreational area has something for everyone. Here are three fun activities you won't want to miss this autumn!
1. In search of the most beautiful mushrooms
How many species can you find?
In early October, the mushrooms are again popping out of the ground everywhere in Het Twiske. Look closely and you will see them popping up among the leaves. Especially the Smaal and the Roemersveld turn into a walhalla for mushroom lovers. Go out this autumn with your children and be surprised by the colourful and mysterious mushrooms. Complete your adventure with the free app 'Obsidentify': photograph the mushrooms and playfully discover which species you will encounter. Note: You can look at the mushrooms, but don't touch them!
2. Geocaching
Treasure hunt for adults
Have you ever heard of geocaching? This is a fun way to get out into nature and search for the cache (treasure) together. All you need is a smartphone and a geocaching app. Choose which treasure you want to search for in the app and navigate to this spot using coordinates. Beforehand, you don't know exactly what shape or size the cache is or how it is hidden. Maybe it's a crate, a tube or something completely different. One thing is always the same though: every cache has a logbook in which you, the finder, can record your name and date of discovery.
3. Endless hiking
Discover the various hiking routes
On a beautiful autumn day, it is great to get some fresh air in Het Twiske. At the beginning of autumn, the trees are still beautifully decorated by their brown, orange and red-tinged leaves, but soon they lose their leaves almost completely. Yet on a sunny October day, it feels like spring is on its way. Walking through the recreation area, robins and wrens treat you to their most beautiful song. In short, it is the perfect time to admire nature in all its colourful splendour during a walk through Het Twiske.
