Laag Holland

Gemeente Waterland is part of the region Laag Holland. Laag Holland is a unique piece of real Holland above the North Sea Canal. This unique former national landscape is characterised by its unique location below sea level. Man and nature have worked together to create something beautiful below sea level, which is reflected in the openness, the beautiful straight lines and the protected town and village views. Old mills, reclaimed land, wide views and space for peace and nature, where a visit to picturesque villages and towns can be alternated with unique activities in nature.
