A tasty voyage of discovery for the whole family - by Charlotte from Go-Kids

Going out together with the kids is always a treat. And especially if you can combine it with tasting the most delicious regional products from the region. Then you can be sure of a successful day! In the Beemster, a unique piece of World Heritage, you can experience all this with the special children's route 'Taste the Beemster Regional Products Route', developed by Laag Holland.

Children's route: Taste the Beemster regional products

The handy leaflet, including a clear map of the Beemster, makes it easy to get started. The leaflet is available at:

The leaflet is free until the end of 2025, from January 2026 it will cost €2.50.

The map shows you the way past all kinds of cosy farms, stalls and shops where you can buy (and sometimes taste) regional products. Think cheese, fresh milk, eggs, vegetables, fruit and meat. But also real Beemster crisps and chocolate. On the back of the folder you will find fun facts about the locations and the region. And after each visit, the children can stick a sticker. How fun is that! Besides producers, the map also includes family outings such as playgrounds, the gnome trail, an ice cream shop and historical forts. So you can make it a whole day full of variety.

The route is intended as a cycling route, but of course you can also follow it by car if cycling is just too long for the little ones.

A bag full of Beemster

We left at 5pm with bags full of delicious regional products and three happy children. At home, we baked our Beemster Betje pancakes with fresh milk, eggs, cheese and apples.

"The pancakes were really delicious - after two we were all full. You just taste the quality of the region."

One thing we know for sure: we will be going out in the Beemster like this more often. Not just for the taste, but also for the experience. The children loved tapping, tasting and discovering for themselves. And we enjoyed it at least as much. Moreover, we saw many more nice stalls along the roads, so plenty to discover!

Why you should discover the Beemster too!

The 'Proef de Beemster Streekproductenroute' is much more than a cycling tour, it is an experience full of flavour, nature and connection. Together, you discover where food comes from, meet local farmers and create memories that stick.

So: go out, fill your bag with regional products and taste the real Beemster feeling.
