Adventures in the forest
The Purmer forest is still very young. Yet there is already a lot to experience among the poplars, ash, oak and beech trees that were planted over twenty years ago. Meandering footpaths give you that real 'forest feeling' and for children the play forest is an adventurous playground with crawl-and-creep passages. Of course, there is much more to experience, so discover it soon!
The gnome trail
Did you know that gnomes live in the Purmer forest? Become a real gnome with a pointed hat and visit your gnome friends. Keep your eyes open, because gnomes leave only very small gnome trails behind. Along the way, you will be given all kinds of fun gnome tasks that vary according to the season. Complete all assignments as a real gnome tracker and be declared 'Gnome tracker of the day'.
The Phoenix path
Walk the Phoenix path and look for the letters on the trees, read the poems in the forest and discover which birds live there. While walking, you really will encounter everything and enjoy nature and poetry at the same time. Maybe you will meet the phoenix! A very special bird. It is said to live up to five hundred years. Nice to know: the Phoenixpad was designed by visual artist Mirjam Bakker and the poems were written by young people from Purmerend.
The play forest
Especially for children, the Purmerbos has an exciting play forest. The place where children can go on adventures and expend all their energy. Go exploring and jump on the stepping stones through the water and explore the various islands. Afraid of getting your feet wet? Then clamber over the rope bridge! Or play hide-and-seek with your peers in the crawl and creep passages or build a real hut from loose branches.
