The fresh noses route
A great favourite among dog walkers. On this stretch, the dog can run wild through the polder landscape.
The name says it all: get some fresh air on this route. Walk along the unpaved winding paths, climb over tree trunks, while leaves and beechnuts fall from the trees. Before you know it, a squirrel shoots past your feet. It is a beautiful sight when the forest's treetops meet and you see the sun's rays shining through the branches. The Purmerbos is a fairly young forest; the first trees were planted 30 years ago. But the fertile soil allows the poplars, oaks and beeches to grow well and it is already starting to look like a full-fledged mature forest.
