Did you know that the idyllic peninsula of Marken is largely car-free? That's why it's best to visit the former island by boat. Moor at Westhaven Marken and go exploring. Set up by sailing club Het Y, the harbour has a total of 43 moorings. Although facilities here are limited, the striking green wooden houses in the background and the setting sun in the evening really make your stay worthwhile.
6. Marina Monnickendam
Always a place to go
About 15 kilometres under the smoke of Amsterdam, you'll find Jachthaven Marina Monnickendam. Here they facilitate everything to do with sailing. It is therefore the perfect base for sailing yachts, but of course also for motorboats. The marina has no fewer than 550 berths, 80 of which are for passers-by, and is located 2 kilometres from Jachthaven Waterland. As a result, there is almost always room for your boat in this area.

Nauerna marina

From this point, there are numerous sailing routes to follow that will take you through the Zaanstreek, Amsterdam, Haarlem or the North Sea. 9. Marinas in de Rijp

De Rijp has no fewer than two marinas. In the centre of the village is the Passantenhaven en Watersportvereniging Eilandspolder, with 60 permanent moorings and 20 passers-by moorings. There is also Jachthaven De Meermolen, idyllically located with a view of the Eilandspolder and the Beemster. The marina has around 48 berths, offers water and electricity and visitors are welcome.
Moor your boat and explore the 17th-century village on a walking or cycling tour. You can also hire a whisper boat in the Land of Leeghwater and explore the Eilandspolder. Here you are guaranteed to spot many bird species, such as the great egret and the kingfisher.
Marina Uitdam
