The old Zeevang polder is bursting with traces of the past. During this route, enjoy the most special historical sites, the peace and quiet, the friendly residents and, of course, all the natural beauty of the Zeevang polder.

In the 10th century, 'settlers' moved from the coast to the east of the province to clear the metre-thick raised bog. Long, straight ditches were dug with narrow strips of land in between. This pattern is still clearly visible during the walk and old peat streams, winding dykes and ribbon villages tell you a lot about the past of the Zeevang polder. The open polder landscape is also a favourite spot for meadow birds. The black-tailed godwit feels wonderfully at home here. But geese, wigeons, golden plovers and swans also love this flat, open land behind the dike. There is an occasional twittering here....

Just outside cosy Hobrede they...

Just outside cosy Hobrede, remains of habitation have been found in the ground from the village of Drey, which was abandoned in the late 14th century. Originally, this late-medieval ribbon village was called Dreyerhobreden. By 'drey' is meant a bend in a water stream. Nowadays, the sharp bend offers a particularly beautiful wide view of the fields in the polder.

By the way, you need not be afraid of getting lost, as Kwadijk's 1925 square wooden water tower is a clear landmark that shows the way. Have fun hiking!
