Costume route

(41 km)

The Klederdrachtroute is a varied cycle tour where you cycle through an ancient Dutch landscape with bees, flowers and overwhelming views. And you become familiar with some very old Dutch clothing styles.

Along the way, you will be introduced to some very old Dutch clothing styles such as on the peninsula of Marken. Another place where traditional costume sometimes still graces the streets is, of course, Volendam. With its white lace hoods (hul) and blood coral necklaces, Volendam is the most famous Dutch traditional costume. A direct result of the artists' colony that settled here around 1900. Painters loved those local types in their colourful clothes and immortalised them frequently on their canvases. If you would like to be immortalised in this folklore yourself, you are welcome at one of the many souvenir and photo shops. There you can have a portrait taken entirely in style. A perfect moment to take a break from your cycling tour.
