Leave the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam behind and discover vast Waterland! Winding dykes and roads lead you through the flowery landscape and past cosy villages such as Durgerdam, Holysloot and Zuiderwoude.

Hop on your bike at Amsterdam Central Station and escape the hustle and bustle of our capital city. Cycle over the Schellingwouderbrug bridge and before you know it, you will find yourself in an oasis of tranquillity. Halfway along the route, you cycle into the village of Zuiderwoude. A so-called ribbon village where houses used to be built side by side on a dike. This elevation was necessary because the peat here used to hold the water like a sponge. But the area was drained and the peat collapsed. What remains is a historic farming village with beautiful farms and wooden houses surrounding a lovely church. Feel free to stop along the way at the beautiful spots you come across along the way and enjoy!
