The Fens route
Enjoy paddling in Het Twiske on the yellow route. Discover the beautiful watery spots in this beautiful recreation area.
You can recognise the route by the wooden poles with a yellow colour. Sail through the fields of Het Twiske with special flora and fauna, as it is a natura-2000 area. You can moor at the bird-watching station, for example. This route goes through the meadows and you will notice that, as you come face to face with grazing Scottish Highlanders. From the water, you get very close to the animals hiding in the reeds. Be calm and quiet, listen carefully and you will see special birds and other animal species.
Don't have your own canoe? No problem, canoes (1-person canoes, Canadian canoes) can be hired at Twiske Haven. Good to know is that Het Twiske has two canoe landing stages. These are on the west side, south of the Etensroer entrance and on the east side near the Marsenweg.
