Round 'Broek' and Volgermeer
Rondje 'Broek' and Volgermeer is a 7.57 km walk through beautiful Broek and Waterland and the special Volgermeer. You walk past typical wooden Broeker houses and through picturesque streets.
In the Volgermeer polder, you will enjoy the peace, space and special flora and fauna around you.
The Twiske-Waterland recreation board has developed a route booklet for the 'Broek' and Volgermeer district. As you walk, you will find more information about the nature, culture and history of the area in the route booklet. For instance, you will find out that peat used to be extracted in the Volgermeerpolder. And the area was used as a rubbish dump for many years. You can download the route booklet from the PDF file.
