Cemetery Overweersepolderdijk
Along the Overweersepolderdijk (number 24) in Purmerend is a beautiful historic cemetery that was constructed in 1875.
This is where many deceased found their final resting place for a full century. After a new cemetery was opened, this area was closed and no longer used, and the graves and the chapel fell into disrepair. In order not to let such a beautiful historical site go to waste, a foundation was set up in 2004 to take on the restoration. The result is a unique atmospheric location where the haze of memory still hangs between the trees.
The former cemetery now offers various possibilities for the interment of ashes.
