Church of Warder
In the small-scale village of Warder, you will find a very special church. The former reformed church was built in 1847, but due to dilapidation, it had to be demolished. Over a century later, the new church itself was in bad shape.
When the church threatened to be demolished again, the people of Warder sprang into action. For a symbolic amount of 1 guilder, the church was sold to the municipality of Zeevang. Businesses and residents of Warder started raising money together to have the church converted into a sports hall. And with success, since 1975 the church has been used as a sports hall! So nowadays, Warder church is no longer used for church services, but for gymnastics lessons for primary school pupils, among others. Special after all!
