The Jisper molengang | Beemster Molens
Contact
The Jisper molengang has been a three-stage mill corridor from the reclamation of the Beemster until the demolition of the mills.
Here the lake was less deep so this combination was sufficient. At Zuiddijk no 4, traces of the former mill corridor can still be seen on either side of the farm. Three mills in a row, first with a scoop wheel and later with an auger, fed the water to the ring canal. The lifting range of a scoop wheel (1.50 m) was less than that of the later Archimedes screw or auger (up to 4.50 m). From 1848, the Beemster mills were given an auger.
