Oldest Wooden House
This historic house in Edam is one of the oldest wooden houses in our country. The all-wood cottage was built around 1530 and the front facade and shutters are still almost entirely original.
A wooden house from that period is unique in the region. Miraculously, the house survived the many city fires that ravaged the town, defying the time when wood was replaced by stone because of fire safety. Around 1980, Edam's Oldest Wooden House was beautifully restored.
