Librije / Latin school Edam
The Great Church houses the South Portal from 1538. There you will find the history of the then medieval parish library and the Latin school founded in 1585.
The Regentenkamer (where the Classis met after 1572) houses a permanent exhibition on the origins of the Latin schools, book printing, some State Bibles, the Librije collection (158 titles, including post-incunabula). There is also the authentic Latin school classroom, where stories can be told about the first paper production and the presence of Greek and Latin in our contemporary language use
