The watcher, sleeper and dreamer

The artwork is intended as a seating element and meeting place in the courtyard garden of the apartment complex on Stekeldijk, which consists of three buildings called waker, sleeper and dreamer.

Names, traditionally used for dyke bodies along rivers. The artist wanted to tie in with the theme of dykes and protecting ourselves from water. The bench is composed of concrete and stainless steel symbolising land and water topped by a bronze sculpture. Its base is a sandbag topped with three stylised human figures: the watchman (standing in the middle), the sleeper (sitting next to it) and the dreamer (lying behind it). The sculpture is located exactly at the separation of land and water.
