Alida Hoeve cheese farm & clog factory
The Alida Hoeve cheese farm and clog factory is located in Volendam. Where once cows were stabled, cheese is now sold. The Alida Hoeve shop offers a wide range of Henri Willig cheeses, gifts and souvenirs.
Of course, you may also taste, the staff will be happy to advise you! The Alida Hoeve is near Volendam, which, with its dike and fishing port, is world-famous and really should not be missing from your tourist itinerary. Extra fun: the staff are dressed in original Volendam costumes.
Clog makers The Friendship
After your welcome at the Alida Hoeve, you can visit Klompenboerderij De Vriendschap, right next door. In earlier times, farmers and workers walked on this footwear made of poplar or willow wood. Clog-making is a craft that is still held in high regard in the Netherlands; it requires a lot of skill to carve a clog out of a slice of wood. After the demonstration, you can admire various decorated wooden shoes in the shop, as well as other souvenirs. Entry is free.
