The Ilperveld is a favourite spot for meadow and reed birds, and one place where these beautiful birds all congregate is at the bird-watching hut near the visitor centre. Take a seat in the hut and open one of the hatches and enjoy nature in peace!
Cycling route 'Experience the living bog'
The 'Experience the living peat' cycle route takes you from the lively centre of Purmerend through the beautiful Laag Holland landscape. During the tour, you will learn all about the special peat meadow area the Ilperveld. Discover what changes this area has undergone over the years and what challenges the peat still faces today. An ideal route for those who want to combine nature and history!
Hardebol Nature Farm
Together with 15 farmers, Landschap Noord-Holland takes care of the management and maintenance of the peat meadow area. One of these farmers is Natuurboerderij Hardebol, which has been running Landschap Noord-Holland's management farm since mid-2020. The Hardebol family manages no less than 100 hectares of the beautiful Ilperveld. Visit the farm to take a look behind the scenes and discover the tastiest regional products in the farm shop!
