the two characters from the play *Brak*

A tragicomic and moving play about two sisters who cannot live with each other, yet cannot live without each other either.

Meet Wil and Tosca, two sisters who are getting on in years. Wil’s hip isn’t working quite as well as it used to, so Tosca helps her out whenever they go out. Meanwhile, the sisters chat away: about the past and the present, old film stars, God, birthday presents and the neighbour upstairs with her sly little eyes.

They seem like ordinary conversations between two elderly sisters, but amidst the memories, annoyances and humour, it gradually becomes clear that Wil and Tosca have shared a whole lifetime together. They cannot get on with one another, but perhaps they can manage even less well without each other.

BRAK is a tragicomic and moving play about love, loss, growing older and the injustices of life. For the performance, Petra ten Hagen takes on the role of Wil.
