J.J. Cale cover band ‘The Breeze’ is back in town.

JJ Cale has been world-famous since the 1970s for his laid-back blend of country, blues and rock ’n’ roll. Now known as the Tulsa Sound. He had a major influence on Eric Clapton, who scored several hits with covers of his songs. Dire Straits and even Santana were also influenced by him.

Since 2017, our municipality has been home to a genuine J.J. Cale cover band, ‘The Breeze’. They strive to replicate the original sound – with its characteristic languid, understated atmosphere – as closely as possible. It’s actually an impossible task. J.J. Cale was a master at doubling the vocals on all his hits. But with a male and female vocalist, The Breeze come a long way. Danny Veerman is the lead singer and Katja Keuchenius is the female vocalist. Peter Oudendijk and Marco van den Oever play acoustic and electric guitar respectively. Peter Keuchenius is on bass. Henk van der Veer handles the drums and percussion, whilst Ad Smits plays the keyboards.

The Breeze have played at the PX several times already; you could certainly call it a tradition. It promises to be another intimate and cosy gig on 22 January 2027.
