The summer meadow birds have departed and the winter visitors have taken up residence in the Eilandspolder. During this winter tour, you’ll board the excursion boat and sail through the water-rich landscape, on the lookout for rare birds and winter scenery.
The wigeon, in particular, is a common sight at this time of year. Large flocks gather in the Eilandspolder to feed on the grass. When the flock suddenly takes flight, it makes for an impressive spectacle. Large numbers of golden plovers can also regularly be found in the meadows.
Along the way, the swaying reeds lining the route provide a picturesque backdrop. From the water, the landscape of the Eilandspolder also comes to life in a special way.
Tips
- Put on waterproof shoes or boots and warm (rain) clothes. On the water, it is chilly but well wrapped up, it is fully enjoyable.
- Children are welcome.
- Got binoculars? Bring those, you'll enjoy them even more!
- There is room on the boat for wheelchairs, please contact us in advance (tel 088-0064400) if you want to come with a wheelchair.
