Exhibition | From the Churches

What is interesting is that there is a surprising amount to see. The most visible features are the preserved church buildings. But many of the initiatives that originated within the churches also live on. Think of education, care, all kinds of foundations, clubs and associations.

In the run-up to the exhibition, we spoke to many people. The result is an exhibition akin to a religious ‘botanical collection box’, brimming with a wide variety of objects, documents and personal stories. About and from Lutherans, Jews, Catholics, Mennonites, Reformed and Calvinists. The conclusion is clear: in the tolerant region of Waterland , there has always been – and still is – room for people of all faiths.
