Art competition Landsmeer

The municipality of Landsmeer is introducing an art route that brings together art, landscape and history in a surprising and inspiring way. Along this walking and cycling route, you will discover the most beautiful places in the village and the surrounding nature areas, while you are taken into the rich story of Landsmeer. To mark Landsmeer's 700th anniversary, the municipality is inviting artists from the region to help build this - literally.

Artists wanted

Are you an artist with an eye for history, landscape and imagination? Then this is your chance!

Unleash your creativity and submit your design by 6 October 2025 at info@laagholland.com.

The three winning artworks will be realised at one of three public locations along the route and will soon be part of a lasting cultural experience for residents and visitors. The three locations are: in the Twiske, behind the Zuiderzeelaan and in the Wijkpark.

Theme

Landsmeer is a municipality with a unique character: a green oasis close to Amsterdam, with deep roots in the egg trade and a long tradition of creative and free thinkers. These elements inspire the competition's theme. They challenge artists to create a design that depicts Landsmeer's historical, cultural and natural heritage. Think:

  • The connection between village and nature

  • The history of the egg trade

  • The progressive, free spirit of the Landsmeerders
