From 2 May 2026, it will again be possible to climb the tower!

Climb the tower of De Grote Kerk. A climb along the 133 steps to the balustrade of the tower at a height of 33 metres. Due to the impressive sound volume of the clock on the hour and half hour, the timing of tours must be carefully tuned.

Once at the top, visitors will be rewarded with a panoramic view of the polder, looking towards the IJsselmeer on the east side and towards the North Sea on the westzijde .

A maximum of six visitors can go up accompanied by two volunteers. At the start, they will tell you about the history of the church and tower, followed by a short instruction video and the climb can begin. After the climb, we talk afterwards with coffee or tea and cake. Afterwards, you will receive a certificate as a souvenir. The total duration is about 90 minutes.

You can climb the tower on Sundays with start time 11:15 am or 12:45 pm.
