Taste the history

Starting this summer, Edam has gained a tasteful package. Under the motto "We want to offer visitors an even more valuable visit to Edam", visitors can experience the town's famous cheese story with a complete experience package.

The Belevingsbox Edam, as the package is called, is a collaboration between local entrepreneurs, VVV Edam (Tourist Information Foundation Edam-Volendam) and Bureau Toerisme Laag Holland Holland. The aim is to introduce visitors to the story of Edam cheese in a fun and accessible way and to entice them to stay longer in Edam.

With the Belevingsbox, couples, friends and families can set off on their own. Packed with information and vouchers, the box offers all the ingredients for about three hours of discovery fun in Edam.

The package starts at the VVV tourist office, where the experience box is available from today. Then, a brand new cheese walk, developed in cooperation with Vereniging Oud Edam, leads visitors about three kilometres through the atmospheric historic centre. Several breaks along the way are scheduled.

Extra tip: this package is of course perfect to combine with a visit to the traditional cheese markets on Wednesday mornings in July and August. But it is also a tasty and educational experience on other days too.

The package is available from 9 July to 30 September 2025 and is on sale at VVV Edam(Damplein 1). It is suitable for couples, friends (per two people) and families of up to two adults and three children.
