Discover the history of Landsmeer by water and land
At the Ilperveld Visitor Centre on the Kanaaldijk , you’ll be warmly welcomed with a cup of coffee or tea. From here, you’ll set off by boat at 10:00, 12:00 or 14:00, accompanied by a skipper and a guide from Landschap Noord-Holland. During the boat trip, which lasts about an hour, you’ll sail right through the picturesque Ilperveld: a mosaic of peat meadows and hundreds of small islands. Along the way, the guide will tell you about the rich natural environment and the origins of this unique area.
After the boat trip, you’ll be dropped off at the Weegbreesingel in Landsmeer, where your bike — which has been transported on a separate boat — will already be waiting for you. From here, your exploration by land begins, either following the suggested route – the revamped ‘Historical Landsmeer Loop’ cycle route – or your own route.
Visit the Twiskemolen and the Grietje Tump Museum
Along the way, you’ll pass the Twiskemolen and the Grietje Tump Museum, amongst other sights. Both are open especially for participants in the Cycle-and-Cruise Excursion on this day and can be visited free of charge with a special voucher. Along the route, you’ll find plenty of tasty stops where you can take a break and enjoy a snack and a drink (not included in the price). In short, a complete day out dedicated to nature, exercise and the rich history of Landsmeer.
