The Smallest House of Schermerhorn is the only remaining gardener's house on the Schermer Island. Years ago, the Schermer Island was home to many such cottages, but unfortunately almost all of them have disappeared.

Sometimes families of more than 10 people lived in these tiny houses. Can you imagine?

The Smallest House tells you the story of living and life in the village of Schermerhorn around the year 1900. The story of Antje Tuijnman is also told here. It is suspected that Antje was born here in this cottage and later lived here with her husband and children after her parents died shortly after each other. She also took care of her late sister Trijntje's children.
