The Melkwegbrug in Purmerend

The Melkwegbrug

Since 2012, the Melkwegbrug has been a defining feature in Purmerend's 'skyline'.

The slow-traffic bridge with its iconic arch connects the city centre with the popular residential area of Weidevenne. From the arch you have a beautiful view over the town of Purmerend and the Noordhollands Kanaal. In 2013, the Melkwegbrug received an honourable mention from the Association of Dutch Architects (BNA). The honourable mention is part of five nominations for the architecture award 'Building of the Year 2013'.
