Waterlands Archive
If you want to know something about the history of the Waterland region, then the Waterlands Archive is the place to be.
The Waterlands Archief in Purmerend is the historical documentation centre for the Waterland region. The archive preserves and manages more than four kilometres of archive material, supplemented by an extensive library, historical maps, prints, photos, newspapers, magazines and audiovisual material.
The institution manages the archives of the municipalities of Edam-Volendam, Landsmeer, Purmerend, Waterland, Wormerland and their predecessors, as well as the archives of water boards, notaries, churches, businesses, associations, families and individuals. This makes the archive an indispensable resource for anyone researching regional history, genealogy or local culture.
Visitors are welcome, preferably by appointment.
