The Green Picnic Route
A trip on the water in a canoe or whisper boat is extra fun when you make it your own culinary journey.
The Eilandspolder is a nature reserve with a character all its own. This landscape goes back in time, where it once started with an island between Schermer and Beemster is now characterised by the shallow ditches surrounded by the polder land with greenery, agricultural land and the beautiful meadow birds. Not only in summer but also in winter you can follow the life of many bird species. The peace, quiet and the wetlands make it no trouble for many anglers to find a nice fishing spot.
Bring your own food for the road and stop up to three times at specially designated picnic spots. Step onto the moor with your bare feet and check out the view over the polder, it's definitely worth it.

The green route is signposted with posts in the water, switching to another colour is no problem with the junction system of this boating network. Rental canoes and whisper boats are marked on the map at several locations in the area.
