Purmerland route
On this route, explore the open Purmerland to the north end of recreation area Het Twiske. Enjoy panoramic views from the (North-Holland) Kanaalweg and the Dwarspad Ilpendam-Den Ilp.
The Twiske-Waterland recreation board has developed a route booklet for the Purmerland route. During your walk, you will find more information in the route booklet about the nature, culture and history of the area. For example, did you know that almost five thousand workers worked on the construction of the North Holland Canal? Or that painter Anton Heyboer lived in the village of Den Ilp? You can download the route booklet via the PDF file.
Important information:
- For this route, follow the green markings/arrows between the nodes.
- Between nodes 62 and 65, you walk across farmland on this route. During the breeding season between 15 March and 15 June, this route is closed. You can shift the route by walking back from node 62 via 63 to the starting point. The total route is then about one kilometre longer.
- Check the specific route description on the website of Wandelnetwerk Noord-Holland.
