The Koetenroute

The Koetenroute is a sailing route for canoe or whisper boat and is 6.5 kilometres long. Peacefully sail through natural beauty and enjoy the Eilandspolder with several stops along the way on the red route for art and culture. In a canoe or whisper boat, you see nature from a completely different perspective. Discover pieces of natural beauty you would otherwise never encounter. In the Eilandspolder, you can see meadow birds, birds of prey as well as frogs and various species of fish at close quarters, which is a fantastic experience for children too.

On the way, you can eat your own lunch on land. A picnic table is waiting for you at junction 08.

For art lovers, this route is ideal. Moor up to visit Tineke Stoop's sculpture garden 't Westeinde and make a stop to admire Elly Hoek's sculpture garden and art gallery. Jan Boom's museum can also be reached from the water. The Boon family belonged to one of the most important shipowner and merchant families in de Rijp.

Follow the red signposts in the water. The boating network of the Eilandspolder has five different routes by means of a junction system, so it is also possible to follow a different coloured route along the way. With your own canoe, you can start the route from different locations. You can rent a canoe at Camping Tuinderij Welgelegen.
