Part of the Defence Line of Amsterdam. This concrete culvert was constructed under the road and makes communication between the parts of the Jispersloot on both sides of it.

It probably dates from the mobilisation period of 1914-1918. The reasoning is that the Volgerweg probably served as a barrier to the inundation. The culvert is made of gravel concrete with a single culvert in the centre line of the Jispersloot. It is the only remaining element of the inundation barrier in the Beemster and, in the possession of the windmill, represents the most intact example of a concrete culvert in the Defence Line of Amsterdam.
The culvert was probably constructed between 1914 and 1918 when the north side of the inundation was moved from Rijperweg to Volgerweg.
