Keyser Climb Beemster

Have you always wanted to see De Beemster from a great height? Then book the 'Keyserklim' and climb to the top of the Keyserkerk. From the church tower at a height of 32 metres, enjoy the fantastic view of the world heritage site with its tight geometric allotment pattern. The church tower can be climbed from the age of 5.

After the outbreak of the Batavian revolution, the church council had long resisted keeping full control of the tower. But times changed and so did the attitude of the church council. They were keen to get rid of the expensive tower; after all, it served the common good. Not only because of the tower clock, but also on special events such as mourning and wedding, fire and special occasions, the bell was rung.

On 18 January 1819, Sheriff Klaas Kunst signed the transfer on behalf of the Beemster Civil Municipality and the church wardens Frans Schoorl, Sijmen Hoogland and Dirk Zwanenburg on behalf of the Beemster Reformed Municipality. From then on, the church tower is municipal property.
