The Vereniging Historisch Purmerend (VHP) aims to record and disseminate Purmerend's history through an extensive collection of visual material, maps, plans, paintings and objects.

Since spring 2012, the VHP has been housed in the VHP-huis on the Kanaaldijk. Here you will find a growing library, an extensive collection of photos and postcards, and various objects that keep the memory of Purmerend and its inhabitants alive. The VHP is also represented in the Historisch Platform Purmerend, in which various local historical organisations such as the Archeologische Werkgroep Purmerend, the Purmerends Museum and the Waterlands Archief work together.

Walk-in Saturdays
The VHP opens the doors of the VHP House on every last Saturday of the month from 1pm to 4pm. People interested in the history of Purmerend (members and non-members) are cordially invited to take a look then.
