Oudste Houten Huis

The Oudste Houten Huis is a house in Edam, a town located north of Amsterdam. It was built in the 16th century and both its façade and shutters are almost entirely original.

This is rather remarkable for the region and it's largely considered the oldest wooden house in Edam. Impressively, it was spared from many fires and even legislation that wooden buildings be replaced by stone properties to reduce the risk of fires. Many of the house's features were carefully restored in 1980.
