Evangelical Lutheran Church

The Lutheran Church has a rich history and for a long time has served as church building for the Lutheran community in Monnickendam. Nowadays, it belongs to the Protestant community of Monnickendam. A few times a year church services are still held in the attractive church on the Zuideinde. The inside is not open for viewing. A short walk to view the church in the old centre of Monnickendam is recommended.

History
In 1642 work was started on the construction of the church, a clandestine church since originally only the ‘Reformed religion’ was tolerated.

Viewing
The church does not open for viewing.

Services
A few times a year a church service is still held in the Lutheran church, for example Holy Thursday and Holy Saturday (children’s Easter Vigil) and several times a year for an evening service. See the website.
