This is a heart-warming film, in which relevant themes are addressed in a light-hearted manner. Céline is looking forward to the arrival of her first child; her wife, Nadia, is due to give birth to their daughter in three months’ time.
But to be legally recognised as a mother, Céline must adopt her child and prove that she deserves a place in her own daughter’s life. As part of this process, she is asked to collect fifteen statements confirming that she will be a good mother. Under the watchful eye of friends, family and the law, she searches for her place as a parent. ‘Des preuves d’amour’ is a moving, yet light-hearted and humorous portrait of queer parenthood and the obstacles that come with it. Based on the director’s own experiences, the film powerfully tells the story from the perspective of the non-pregnant partner during the final stages of pregnancy.
