Film in the framework of PURMEREND PRIDE, in cooperation with Discrimination.nl Zaanstreek-Waterland.
One evening, Adi is beaten up while walking down the street with a tourist. The director does not show the violence, but rather a prior tender moment between Adi and the boy. The next moment, Adi stumbles into the bedroom of his parents' house, black and blue. The verbal and later physical violence that follows the attack are captured in a clinical manner. The camera does not want to become a voyeur of Adi's pain. The film seems primarily interested in what Adi's existence triggers in others. He is a mirror in which his community shows its true (homophobic) face. Adi himself symbolises all identities that have been marginalised. Like the place, three kilometres from the end of the world. The warning is clear: we are at the edge of civilisation.
