Spring concert Zang Edam

Zang Edam has put together a surprising programme for its spring concert on Sunday afternoon 19 April together with conductor Benjamin Bakker.
It consists of four beautiful, accessible pieces of music by contemporary composers James Whitbourn, Karl Jenkins, Arvo Pärt and John Rutter. The fifth composition is older, a beautiful cantata from the repertoire of Zang Edam: "Verleih uns Frieden" by Felix Mendelssohn.
Central is the impressive "Son of God Mass" by James Whitbourn. Here a surprising accompaniment of organ and saxophone has been chosen. These are almost never heard together in the Netherlands; they provide comforting, almost meditative music. Something we could use in these confusing times. Together, soprano Charlotte van der Putten, organist Peter Ouwerkerk and saxophonist Paul van der Feen make for a moving experience. The other works complement this beautifully.
