A year ago, singer Anna Sollewijn performed in our church with none other than Karin Bloemen. This time she comes with her new own band!

The Anna Sollewijn / Chris Muller Quartet unites young musical talents from the Dutch jazz scene: vocalist Anna Sollewijn (25) and pianist Chris Muller (27). They met at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where their shared passion for jazz and soul soon led to a special musical click. With their quartet, they offer a fresh, contemporary take on the Great American Songbook, the music that connects them to this day.

They recorded their debut album in Wisseloord Studios in December 2025, together with Cas Jiskoot (bass) and Tim Hennekes (drums): four young Dutch top talents who revive the American Songbook with respect for tradition and a contemporary approach. The album contains standards that Anna and Chris have arranged especially for this quartet.

With virtuoso vocal improvisations, rich harmonies and influences from classical and soul, they show that this music remains alive and kicking.

The idea for this project arose after a period together in New York, where Anna and Chris immersed themselves in the jazz scene of the city that gave birth to the American Songbook. There, they discovered how timeless and topical this repertoire still is. After the successful releases of their individual projects in 2024 - Anna's debut EP (Spotify) and Chris' big band album Turning Thoughts (Spotify) - they felt the need to return to the roots of jazz.

Anna Sollewijn is a versatile singer, composer and arranger who knows how to effortlessly bring together jazz, pop and soul. She has played on stages such as the Newport Jazz Festival, the Grachtenfestival and at the Bimhuis, and toured as a special guest with Karin Bloemen's theatre show in 2023-2025. After her studies, she settled in New York for some time and in 2026 will tour the Netherlands with her own theatre programme 'Anna's Story of Amy'.

Chris Muller, pianist, composer and arranger, is best known as leader of the Chris Muller Bigband and won the Rogier van Otterloo Award. He is also active as an arranger and (guest) conductor with orchestras such as the Metropole Orchestra and the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw. In addition, he regularly collaborates on a variety of projects within the Dutch jazz scene.
