A ditch in the landscape

Boat trip: ‘Useful nature’ in the Eilandspolder.

Come along on a boat trip and discover which herbs grow in the wild. The Eilandspolder is the perfect place for this! This boat trip is all about that. You’ll visit various little islands and, together with an experienced guide, discover which plants grow there and which are edible.

Is it water mint, ground elder or cattail? By looking, smelling, feeling and tasting, you can discover for yourself which plant it is. Not all plants can be picked. We leave the protected species alone. The guide can explain everything to you and knows exactly what you can and cannot taste. Because wild plants have to work much harder to survive, they are more vigorous and nutritious than the cultivated varieties found in supermarkets. And, of course, they’re pesticide-free! Curious to see what’s out there? You’re welcome to come aboard!
