Open Monument Day in Zaanstad

This year’s theme is ‘Resilient Heritage in Times of Uncertainty’.

During Open Monument Day 2026, various monuments will be open to the public free of charge. Visitors can take a look around special locations, and there is often something extra to enjoy, such as exhibitions, guided tours or tastings.

This year, we are also celebrating a special milestone: the 40th edition of Open Monument Day. With the theme ‘Resilient Heritage’, we are showcasing how monuments, stories and historic sites continue to connect and inspire generations, even in times of change. In addition, various walking and cycling routes have been organised, and a number of special new participants are taking part again this year.
