New exhibition in Chapel Overweersepolderdijk.

The first major exhibition of the year in Gallery and Sculpture Garden Churchyard Overweersepolderdijk brings together the work of two artists who have lost their hearts to nature. Lidewij de Vries and Astrid Lagerburg will show their art from Friday 22 May to Sunday 12 July in the cemetery chapel at Overweersepolderdijk 24.

On Sunday 31 May, the exhibition will be festively opened by nature guide Louis Boersma and Lidewij will play live music together with Shelly O'Day.

Lidewij de Vries creates romantic, detailed nature landscapes that invite you to travel to another world. She paints mainly with gouache and acrylic paint, sometimes combined with other media such as gold leaf or oil paint.

"The inspiration for my paintings comes from pristine nature and the folk music I grew up with," she says. "My love for Scotland, where I spent summers as a child, is a recurring element."

Astrid Lagerburg brings to her art a hushed ode to nature. In her hand-formed ceramics, she explores organic forms and the similarities between landscape and human bodies. What began as a love of natural structures grew into a quest for content. "Nature inspires me and can teach us a lot," she says. "I try to convey those lessons in my work."

The exhibition in the chapel can be visited Friday to Sunday from 1pm to 4pm.
On Monday 25 May, Whit Monday, the chapel will also be open because of P3's musical walk.
