Workshop Bookbinding | (for parent and child)

Are you a budding writer and will you write your stories in your homemade notebook or will your drawings appear in your own sketchbook? Or will it be your diary or bullet journal? It's all possible!

What will you do?

You join together loose sheets of paper (pages). Around them you will put a cover: front, back and spine. This can be hard or soft. There are different ways of bookbinding, such as sewing and gluing. Which technique is used depends on the purpose of your booklet. You learn what quires and endpapers are, what a book block and a cover are. And you learn how to make a booklet out of all these separate parts. For the cover and endpapers, you can use wrapping paper, beautifully printed paper, wrapping paper, coloured paper, a page from a magazine, etc. Or you make your own beautiful paper with stamps or paint.For whom?

This workshop is for children together with their father/mother/uncle/aunt/grandmother/ etc. Working together is nice in this workshop, as is a bit of patience and skill, but it's mainly about fun and being together.PLEASE NOTE: Both participants (child and adult) must be registered separately. The price is €32 per participant. When registering, please mention in the comments field the name of the child/adult you are doing the workshop with.

Materials

The course includes materials, but if you have beautiful paper at home that you want to use for your cover or endpapers, or a nice drawing for the front, bring it along!
- You will need about A4 size (21 x 29,7 cm) to cover the whole booklet.
- If you want to stick a home-made drawing or postcard on the front, for example, this is A6 size: 10.5 x 14.8 cm.
