What else is there to see?
Besides the exhibitions, the fort also offers a glimpse into the daily life of soldiers and officers of the past. Visitors can take a look at the officers' canteen and the original kitchen. In the soldiers' quarters, they get an impression of how ordinary soldiers lived, while the powder room paints a picture of the storage of ammunition and explosives. Outside, visitors can walk through a reconstructed World War I trench and also admire two impressive scale models: one of the Fort near Edam itself and a larger scale model mapping the inundation areas of the Defence Line of Amsterdam.

Guided tours and independent visits
During all openings, guides are on hand to show visitors around. They explain the purpose of the Defence Line of Amsterdam, of which the fort is part, and take you through the history of this more than 100-year-old defensive structure. The guide will also show you the furnished rooms and provide fascinating background information. A comprehensive tour takes about an hour and a half.

Visitors can also explore the fort on their own. At the entrance, they will receive a map and a short description so they can explore independently.
