Dutch Reformed Church Marken

The Dutch Reformed church on the island of Marken is a national monument, a triple aisle, pseudo-basilica. The church was added to the monument register on 1st July, 1983. The church was built between 1903 and 1904 to a design by A. H. L. Kups. The design itself, however, dates from 1896.

The interior
The ceiling is in the form of a barrel vault resting on four cast iron pillars. Where the ship has a barrel vault, the aisles however have flat ceilings. The aisles are separated from the nave by arches. In the ship, three 17th century chandeliers hang from the ceiling.

Viewing
The church is open to viewing from May to September from 10:00 – 17:00 hours.?

Services
Sunday at 10:00 o’clock

Particulars?
Five ships’ models hang in the ship, and are well worth seeing. The ships are the following types: two herring boats from 1600 and 1890, one of the two is called d’Kaars – a steam logger – a 1957 botter and a 1959 anchovy barge.
